30 works of art talk about “Myrtis”

Inauguration of the art exhibition «Myrtis»

Friday, February 11th at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki

 

“Myrtis” converses with the modern world through 30 works of art created by Greek artists, who were inspired by the archaeological find of “Myrtis” and its history. The works of art, presented for the first time in an archaeological museum, create a dialogue between the past and the present. The exhibition is organized as part of the temporary exhibition «Myrtis: face to face with the past» (January 14th - March 13th 2011).

The artists participating in the exhibition are, in alphabetical order: Ο. Αggelidou, P. Aggelidis, P. Adam Veleni, B. Apostolou, N. Aspeta – Zografina, C. Bagia, S. Bambakari, G. Geporgakopoulos, A. Grigora, M. Grigoriadis, M. Kalopasta, A. Koustas, M. Madenis, P Manabi, K. Marouda, I. Masteropoulos. G. Mitrakas, D. Mytaras, Ch. Xenos, E. Platanioti, E. Soutoglou,, Α. Spiliopoulos, K. Spiriounis, M. Stavridou, G. Stavrou, P. Tzanoulinos, L. Tsilaga, G. Steris (Stamatelos), I. Fragouli.

They all kindly offered their works in order to support the research programme “Myrtis” of the Paleopathology Laboratory of the University of Athens, directed by the assistant professor Manolis I. Papagrigorakis, dedicated to the study and research of ancient DNA.

The exhibition, which will be held until March 13th, is accompanied by a catalogue.
